Hazel Inez Burnett, 84, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Burnett was born in Hillsville, VA to the late Rufus and Carman York Horton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Wilford Horton; and two sisters, Ethel Chappell and Gladys Wagoner. Survivors include her husband, Glendi Burnett of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Burnett of Galax and Donald Burnett of Hillsville; daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Stacy Whisenhunt of Galax and Bonnie Phillips of Hillsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Belva and Earl Presley of Danville and Mary and Walt Thomason of Alabama; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred and JoAnn Horton, Garnett and Susie Horton, Clifford and Geneva Horton, and Montie and Linda Horton all of Galax; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Skyview Baptist Church at 12:00 PM with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb-Skyview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 until 12:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
