Hassie Mae Cassell Turner, 96 of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, August 03, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Galax. Mrs. Turner was born in Virginia on July 7, 1915 to the late John Kemper and Mary Jane Bowman Cassell. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Buford Turner and son Jimmy Turner. She is survived by her sister Betty Jo Farris of Hillsville; special caregivers Jack & Betty Saul of Fancy Gap; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Ty Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Friday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
