Obituary

Harold Wade Padgett of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Cochran Padgett; his parents, Sidney and Effie Mae Lanter Padgett; his brother, Wayne Padgett; and a brother-in-law, J.D. Smith.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Valerie Padgett; grandchildren, Madison Padgett, Mac Padgett, and Emerson Padgett; step-grandchild, Courtney Donithan; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Kaye Padgett, Elsie Smith, Sue Faddis and her husband, James; and nephew, Mark Padgett.

Wade was a faithful member of the Dalton Hill Christian Church where he served as a deacon.  He was a member and Past Master of Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM, and he proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He retired from Hanes Corporation after 35 years.  Wade was a great baseball player and member of Fries High School Sports Hall of Fame.  He was also an avid golfer and fisherman.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
