Hardy Leon "Peanut" Turman, age 84 passed away Saturday November 30th, 2024. Peanut was born on December 11,1940, to the late Troy and Maudie Turman. He is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Turman; brothers Elwood "Chuck" Turman, Odell Turman; sisters Hassie Moore, Doris Bowling, and stepson Rodney Primm.

Peanut is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Wayne Lawson of Indian Valley, Regina and Tony Burnette of Hillsville, son and daughter-in-law Hank and Angie Turman of Pulaski, stepdaughter Monica Slate of Pulaski. Sisters and brother-in-law, Beulah Hill, Gayla (Leonard) Thompson Grandchildren and spouse Bradley Lawson, Landon (Hannah) Simpkins, Dylan Simpkins. Step grandchildren and spouse Adam (Kristin) Slate, Emily Slate, Justin Reece, Travis Reece and Nicholas Burnette. Great grandchildren Lincoln Simpkins and Dax Simpkins. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and special friend, Wanda Harmon also survived.

Peanut proudly represented and was a member of – Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193, Galax Moose Lodge #733, Kazim Shriners of Roanoke, Galax Hillbilly Unit, Dugspur Rescue Squad, Carroll County Search and Rescue. He taught EVOC classes in Virginia and participated in many racing organizations throughout Virginia and the Carolinas.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday December 4th, 2024, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel conducted by Rev. Nathan Phillips, with interment to follow in the Kermitt Quesenberry Cemetery on Duncan Mill Road in Dugspur. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until service time. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady is serving the family.
