Gwendolyn Benita Farmer Bowers Williams, 52 of Galax, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Duke University Hospital. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by four brothers, David Farmer, Todd Farmer, Franklin Hall and Shannon Hall and her step father, Bobby Hall.

Survivors include her husband, Scott Williams of Galax; son, Jared Bowers of Scotland; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Tim Russell of Fancy Gap; mother, Evelyn Hall of Hillsville; father and step mother, John and Barbara Farmer of Galax; brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Tami Hall of Hillsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Angie and Jake Leonard of Galax and Stacey Sparks of Fancy Gap; grandchildren Cameron Russell and Leah Russell; and best friend and father of her children, William Bowers.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jim Longest officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association 4217 Park Place Ct. Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979 or to the American Cancer Society 230 Charwood Drive NE, Abingdon, VA 24210. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
