Guy Rush Padgett, 88, of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Golden Living Blue Ridge. Mr. Padgett was born in Carroll County to the late Harrison and Myrtis Martin Padgett. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ottie, Jim, Joe, and Don and a sister, Patra. Survivors include his sister, Erthyl Dalton of Hillsville; sister-in-law, Betty Padgett of Galax; special friend, Daisy Myers; and nieces and nephews, Jane, Marie, Libby, Jerry, Mitchell, Joey, and Carol Ann. Mr. Padgett served in the US Army and was Treasurer for Carroll County for 28 years. He was also an avid racing fan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM prior to the service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
