Obituary

Guida Geneva Hillick "Dottie", age 92 of Hillsville, left this earth in peace to be with the Lord on August 4, 2021 at the home of her daughter.

Guida was born in Carroll County, as a twin with her brother Glendye, on June 15, 1929 to Daniel and Susie Webb Vaughn. Guida was one of fourteen children. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Gladys, Ophelia, Dessie, Delmer, Glendye, Coy, Marshall, Ray, John, and infant sister, Barbara; and son, Edward Glendye Wardwell.

Those left to cherish her memory forever are her children, Beverly Phillips (Larry), Barbara Plott (Ron), Sue Hurst (Johnny), Edna Ruth Grubb (Michael), and Michelle "Baby Girl" Edwards (Jerry), as well as her grandchildren, Bobby, Jody, Stephany, and James, as well as her two youngest granddaughters, Heather and Jordón, whom she called "my girls"; great-grandchildren, Kayley, Kamryn, Nathan, Lily, Ralph, Hunner, Kloe, Madison, Laila, Nicholas and a new blessing, Denver; brothers, Dean Vaughn and Bob Vaughn; and sister, Ann Austin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Angie Lineberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery with Pastor Nathan Montgomery officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. At the request of the family, mask and social distancing will be required at all services. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
