Gracie Smith Edmonds, age 86, peacefully passed away at home in Fancy Gap, early Tuesday morning.  She was the daughter of George W. and Arlie G. Lowe Smith.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James "Ed" Edmonds; her sister, Annie Ruth Smith; her brother, Barnard Smith; her daughter, Darlene Lundy and husband, Treaver; and her son, Kenny Edmonds and partner Dudley Parcell.

Ms. Gracie was a spunky, loving lady that found such beauty in simple pleasures in life.  She enjoyed the warmth of sunlight on her skin, a country drive to see the beautiful rolling hills and the cattle that grazed, the daily visits by the wildlife in her yard, the faces of her family and friends coming for a visit and the treat of a chocolate shake, just to name a few. Gracie was a faithful and devoted member of Hillsville First Baptist Church for 55 years.  She also operated her childcare business in her home for 30 years, making lasting impacts on many, many young lives.  She never met a stranger and loved having conversations with acquaintances and brand-new friends.

She will be deeply missed and cherished in memories by daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Mike Frazier of Fancy Gap; son, Michael Edmonds of Woodlawn; grandsons and wives, Stephen and Erica Frazier of Galax and Brandon and Ame Frazier of Woodlawn; and special friends, Debbie Black, Brenda Furman, Roxane Brown, and Kristie Ross.

The family would like to express special gratitude to the staff of Medi Hospice for your loving service and kindness, especially, Heather, Bridgett, Tracey, Brittany, and Amy.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Shockley and
Pastor Scott Flippin officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Oak Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
