Gladys Louise Alvis, 81 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at her home.  Gladys was born in Wytheville, Virginia to the late Carl Cecil and Florence Agnes Davis Halsey.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, James Halsey and Cecil Halsey; and sister, Helen Gordon.

Gladys was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She worked at Bassett Walker for many years.  Gladys loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing word searches.

Survivors include her husband, Frank D. Alvis of the home; son, Chris Alvis and spouse, Peggy of Hillsville; daughter, Angie Nunn and spouse, Michael of Hillsville; grandchildren, Brook Eldridge and spouse, Caleb, Parker Alvis, Jordan Brown and spouse, Bryan, and Jacob Nunn; great-grandchildren, Carter, Carson, Chase, Cannon, Chandler, Cruz, Brody, Barrett, Jaxson and Mary Lynn and spouse, Josh; brothers-in-law, Larry Alvis, and Danny Alvis and spouse, Diane; sister-in-law, Debbie Whitler and spouse, Robert; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Mr. Jacob Nunn officiating.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
