Gilbert Grant Meredith, 80, of Fancy Gap passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows in Laurel Fork. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde R. and Myrtle Thomas Meredith; son, Gilbert Wade Meredith; sisters, Vida Baughan, and Virginia Rogers; brother, George Meredith. He is survived by his wife, Mavis Sowers Meredith of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Doris A. Meredith of Mt. Airy, NC, and Sherry Elaine and Matthew Siekierka of Rocky Mt.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Warren C. and Llew Ellyn Meredith of Fancy Gap, Brian K. Meredith of Mt.Airy, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Virgie and James Rorer of Flint, MI; four grandchildren, B.J. Meredith, Blake Meredith, Kristen Bray, and Lauren Taylor Meredith; one great granddaughter, Allie Cheek. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Burial will follow in the Blue Mont Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Meredith family.
