Gerald Edward Tilley, 68, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. Pastor Tilley was born in Beckley, West Virginia on December 7, 1952 to the late Ernest Adin and Oretha Vaught Tilley.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Tilley; sons, John Tilley & wife, Melissa of Raphine, Paul Tilley and wife, Kimberly of Galax, and David Tilley and wife, Kalley of Waynesboro; daughters, Lisa Geisler and husband Jay of Burlington, NC and Sarah Terry of Galax; brothers, Herbert Tilley and wife, Mary of Warner Robins, GA, Ray Tilley of White Marsh, MD, Tick Tilley of Sabine, WV, Rondell Tilley of Ravencliff, WV, Randell Tilley of Oceana, WV and Roger Tilley of Oceana, WV; sisters, Patty Byars and husband, Freman of Crown Point, IN, Ethel Day and husband, Roger of Glen Fork, WV, and Brenda Tilley of Maben, WV; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Felts Memorial Park in Galax. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
