Georgia Evon Ward Webb passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Hillsville, Virginia. Georgia was born on July 15, 1938, to Emmette C. Ward and Cecil Vaughan Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore G. "Ted" Webb; three siblings, Bill Ward, Dale Ward, and Rowena W. Manning; her sister-in-law, Shirley B. Ward, and her brother-in-law, Montie Largin.
Georgia graduated from Woodlawn High School, Class of '54. She then attended Radford College, where she received an Associate's Degree in Business. For a time after college, she worked as a secretary at Vaughan Bassett Furniture. For the remainder of her career, 38 years, she served as secretary to the Virginia State Police in the Galax area. She retired in 2001. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, and she attended Woodlawn United Methodist Church until her health failed.
Georgia loved her family and hosted family gatherings for many, many years. She told great stories, and even though we may have heard a story many times, we never tired of hearing them. We are a close-knit family and being together whenever possible was a priority for all of us.
Georgia is survived by her sisters, Pat Rollison (John) of Richmond, Virginia, Ann Largin of Hillsville, Virginia, and her sister-in-law Marie Carey Ward of Marietta, Georgia. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Medi Hospice and Commonwealth Senior Living for their loving and consistent care.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville, Virginia, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dina Clower officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery, Galax, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
If you wish to honor Georgia's life via a contribution, please donate to Woodlawn United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 75, Woodlawn, VA 24381.
