Georgia Woods Parnell, 89, of Hillsville passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab of Hillsville. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Johnson Parnell; parents, Fred and Dorthus Shumate Woods; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Fay Spinks of Flowery Branch, GA, Carol and Harvey Smythers of Hillsville, and Shirley and Leonard Hutchens of Hillsville; son, Ray Parnell of Hillsville; brother, Friel Woods of Thomasville NC; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Rosevelt Chappell of Hillsville;sister-in-law, Blanche Woods; eight grandchildren, Angie Vass, Bobby Smythers, James Hutchens, Christopher Hutchens, Shane Parnell, Destiny Parnell, Betsy Spinks, and Bonnie Spinks; six great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Ray Bolen officiating. Graveside service and burial will be on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Parnell Cemetery in Austinville, VA. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 21, 2012 from 5:00 PM until time of the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady chapel is serving the family.
