Georgia Shepherd Alderman, 89 of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Alderman was born in Carroll County to the late William Cleophus and Maggie Nester Shepherd. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Drura Alderman; brother Bobby Hughes Shepherd; granddaughter Erin Elizabeth Alderman; and two step-sons H.J. Alderman and Drura Jackson Alderman. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Sue & Kelly Collins of Hillsville; granddaughters Mamie Loyd of Hillsville and Christi Alderman of Shreve Port, LA; great granddaughters Renee Loyd and Kayleigh Loyd; daughter-in-law Betty Alderman of Shreve Port, LA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special caregivers Berlyne Sawyer and Marcie Frye; and long time friends Alma Sutphin and Mary Ruth Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Dr. Lawrence Childs, Rev. Hebron Quesenberry and Pastor Jeff Pickett officiating. Entombment will follow in Monta Vista Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
