George Thomas Terry, better known as Tom, 74, of Woodlawn, VA, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born September 11, 1939 in Patrick County, VA to the late William Hugh and Cora Ilene Hale Terry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Hale Terry and James Lee Terry, and step-father, Arzie Euel Clifton. Survivors include his wife, Gardella Terry of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg Terry (Lynn) of Newport News, VA, Darcy Terry (Cheryl) of Williamsburg, VA and Shannon Horton of Woodlawn, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Elder Alan and Lorraine Terry of Floyd, VA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Dale Bowman of Meadows of Dan, VA, Ruthy and Garnett Hall of Hillsville, VA and Janie and Garnett Largen of Dugspur, VA; sister-in-law, Glenna T. Terry of Meadows of Dan, VA; three granddaughters and spouse, Sarah (Benjamin) Carr, Savannah Terry, and Bernadine Lock; one grandson, Tommy Terry; one great granddaughter, Alissa Lock; uncle, Warren Hale of Roanoke; aunt, Edrie Clifton of Vesta, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Tom was an active member of the church and of the Gideons. He also loved to sing. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Coulson Church of the Brethren in Hillsville, VA with Pastor Harry Shelton, Pastor Russell Payne, and Elder Alan Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
