George R. Edwards, 88, of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Edwards was born in McDowell County, WV to the late George Harbert and Drucilla White Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Edwards. Survivors include his brothers and sister-in-law, Paul Edwards of Hillsville and Ray V. and Patricia Ann Edwards of Baltimore, MD; sister, Doris Poole of Hillsville; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:00 PM with Pastor Ray Bolen officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
