Obituary

Geneva Rippey Semones of Hillsville went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 2, 2012. Born in Carroll County in 1920 to Nancy Jane Allen and Rufus Rippey, she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, E.O. "Mutt" Semones, and a son, Johnson Glen Semones. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hillsville for 55 years where she was active in Sunday School, W.M.U. and Lottie Moon Circle. She worked in retailing and at Sprague Electric for 20 years. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Mary Jane and Lincoln Weddle of Roanoke, Sue Cox of Hillsville, Willa and Ralph Shropshire of Collinsville, Brenda and Richard Wingate of Independence and Phyllis and Charles Larrowe of Woodlawn; sons and daughter-in-law Bob and Lynda Semones of Pulaski and Dan Semones of Roanoke; thirteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Hillsville at 1:00 PM with Dr. Lawrence Childs, Pastor Michael Shockley, and Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 AM and lasting until service time. Flowers are appreciated, but donations may be given to the First Baptist Church 1401 North Main Street, Hillsville, VA 24343 in her memory or to the charity of your choice. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
