Gay Nell Shuman , 80 of Woodlawn, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Martinsville Health and Rehab. Ms. Shuman was born in Virginia to the late William Glen and Sylvia Dalton Dexter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her children, Michael Spence and Judy Dalton; and other siblings.

Survivors include one brother, Mark Dexter of Rocky Mount, two sisters, Wanda Shuman of Statesboro, GA and Ruth Jackson of Lumberton, NC; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several other family members.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Hal Sonafrank officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
