Gary Wayne Shelar, Jr.

Gary Wayne Shelar, Jr., 56 of Wytheville, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Wythe County Community Hospital. Mr. Shelar was born in Radford, Virginia on October 24, 1969. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Barbara Ann and Glenn Barber and father, Gary Wayne Shelar, Sr.

Gary leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Anthony Isom; grandchildren, Aidan, Alexis and Addie Isom; stepchildren, Tony Anders and William Rentch; step-grandchild, Zachary Rentch; girlfriend, Treca Anders; special friend, Susan Shelar; brother, Donald Shelar (Tammy); sisters, Rebecca Grimes (Joe) and Cindy Shelar; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rodney Christman officiating. Burial will follow in the Surratt Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
