Garnett C. Edwards, 84 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Edwards was born in Carroll County to the late Raleigh & Maude Cruise Edwards. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters Marsha Jean Edwards and Mary Jane Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a member of the KCCH Scottish Rites of Free Masonry, S.J. USA and a 50 year member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM. He was also a member of the #71 Order of the Eastern Star and Gladesboro Lutheran Church. Mr. Edwards retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 41 years.

Survivors include his wife Geneva Edwards of the home; grandson Terry Gardner of Oklahoma; two special cousins Imogene Burcham and Mary Frances Gardner; several very special nieces and nephews and several very special great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Duane Steel and Rev. David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. Pallbearers and Masonic Rites will be provided by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2, 2009, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
