Frieda V. Deskins, 82, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Deskins was born in Carroll County to the late Lyman Coltrane and Lottie Edwards Crawford. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Daniel Deskins, Sr.; and siblings, Glenn Coltrane, Emma Phillips, Mittie Coltrane, Shirley Martin, and Mary Largen. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Linda Deskins of Dugspur and Michael and Charlotte Deskins of Hillsville; grandchildren and spouses, Holly and Jeff Choate, Lorie and Curtis Snider, Daphne and Joey Mabe, and David Deskins; and great grandchildren, Abby Mabe, Palin Snider, and Paisley Snider. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Wendell Horton and Mr. Joey Mabe officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
