Freda Sowers, 74, of Galax joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Friday, January 13th 2023 at home surrounded by her children.

Freda was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She dedicated her life to working hard and taking care of those she loved. Despite any challenge she faced, her faith never wavered and she always pushed forward. Her battle with cancer was no different.  She relentlessly fought with remarkable strength until her very last moment with us. Her impact on each of us that were blessed to be a part of her life will never be forgotten.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Bowers of Galax, Sons Donnie Hash, Jerry Hash and wife Carol, David Hash and wife Sonya, all of Galax; grandchildren Chelsea Hamilton, Josh Bowers, Tyler Hash, Travis Hash, Alese Hash, Heath Hash, Laci Hash and Gavin Weatherman as well as eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Martha Bullion and husband Jackie, Jewel Burcham and husband Paul, brothers James "Jimmy" Frazier and wife Wilma, Paul "Buzz" Frazier and wife Karen. She was preceded in death by her late husband, William "Billy"Sowers, sister Lois Gallimore, and brothers Dennis "Roy" Frazier and Melvin "Gene" Frazier.

Visitation will be at Vaughan Guynn McGrady Chapel in Hillsville on Tuesday, January 17th from 1-2pm followed by a graveside service and burial at Shorts Creek Cemetery. Family requests any flowers and/or donations be made in her memory to Trinity Baptist Church in Galax.
