Fred "Silo" Parsons, 81, of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Parsons was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina to the late Grover Cleave and Mary Mae Luther Parsons. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Roger and Linda Marshall of Hillsville; daughter and son-in-law Mary Ann and John Miller of Piney Creek; sister and brother-in-law Hazel and Jimmy Higgins of Sparta, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law James and Virginia Parsons of Sparta, NC, Claude and Karen Parsons of Lexington, NC, and Ray and Louise Parsons of Sparta, NC; six grandchildren Rodney Marshall, Amy Marshall, Jasmine Miller, Freddy Price, Jerry Price, and Johnathon Price; and three great grandchildren Laryssa Marshall, Rodney Marshall, II, and Johnny Ray. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Robert McClean and Rev. Bob Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Branscome Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
