Frances Brooks Akers – wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend – passed away on September 27 th , 2021 at the home of her daughter, Sharlene, in TN.
Frances was survived by three children, Jimmy and Betty Akers, Sheila and Wayne Hanks, and Sharlene Powell; ten grandchildren, Stacy and Weston Bond, Kelly Driver, LeAnn and Eric Jones, Dana and Michael Collins, Jonathan and Melissa Hanks, Kara and Dustin Richardson, Megan and Anthony Ruggeri, Joshua and Ashley Hanks, Kyleigh and Preston Choate, and William and Maria; nine great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; one sister, Ethel Whitlow; and special friends she loved as daughters, Angie Lineberry, Donna Coleman, and Sheila Houchins.
Frances was born on May 24, 1936 in the home of her parents, Ted and Brooks Lineberry in Woodlawn, VA. She married John W. Akers in 1951. John and Frances had four children.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Akers; daughter, Shirley Driver; parents, Ted and Brooks Lineberry; one brother; and five sisters.
Frances has been a strong influence in the lives of her family and friends. Her life has been dedicated to her faithful walk with God and her family. As her life here came to and end, she expressed the delight of looking forward to being reunited with her first love, John, and to reside in paradise with him for eternity.
A graveside service with burial will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Pleasant View Cemetery with Rev. Angie Lineberry officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
