Forest Curtis Mercer took his final flight on Angel Wings on October 25, 2011. Mr. Mercer, 82 of Fancy Gap, was born in Smyth County, Virginia to the late William L. and Delia Kitts Mercer. He is survived by his wife Amanda Hill Mercer of the home; daughters Pattie Zadrozny and Jennifer Mercer Vining both of Staunton; step children and spouses Sue and Dennis Bennett of Glade Valley, NC, Linda and Bill Williams of Thermopolis, WY, and David and Jeanie Hodges of Galax; grandchildren and spouse Joe and Meg Zadrozny and Katherine Zadrozny; four step grandchildren David Evans, Jade Young, Chad Hodges and Noelle Wolfe; sister Lucille Mercer of Clemmons, NC; one nephew; and one niece.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Bluemont Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Stewart Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
