Florence Loraine Nester McPeak, age 96, of Dugspur, VA passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall-Laurel Meadows, Laurel Fork, VA on Saturday, September 30, 2023.  She was born in Dugspur, VA to the late Elder Delmon Lee and Le"Nora" Moore Nester on May 3, 1927.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63-plus years Shirley R. McPeak; her son, James Delmon "J.D." "Booker" McPeak; five sisters, Nancy N. Worrell, Laura N. Worrell, Elva N. Webb, Sylvia N. Goad Banks, and Vera N. Dalton; five brothers, Archie R., Carlos S., Cody W., Roy H., and J. Hasten Nester.

Florence was a very talented seamstress, crafter, quilter, etc.  She also enjoyed working in the garden and nurturing her flowers.

She is survived by a grandson, Joseph William McPeak; granddaughter, Lori Jean McPeak Huss; great-granddaughter, Baylee McPeak; great-grandson, Charles Thigpen; sister-in-law, Imogene Goad Nester; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the very caring staff of Laurel Meadows who loved her and spoiled her during her stay there.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Elder Melvin McGrady officiating.  Burial will follow in the McPeak Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service.  Flowers are appreciated; however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage Hall-Laurel Meadows Recreation Department 16600 Danville Pike, VA 24352.   Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family
