Fern Lineberry McCommon, 84, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

Fern was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to big band swing music. She was devoted to her family and friends and had a great sense of humor. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her parents, Sadie and Chester Lineberry; her loving husband, Dave; sister, Doris Lundy; son, Michael; and son-in-law J.C. Hendrix.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Susan Hendrix of Allisonia, Vicki Mauer and husband, Doug of Newport; grandson, Justin Hendrix and wife Jennifer, and great-granddaughter Jacey of Fairlawn; niece, Lisa Bain and husband Wendall of Austinville.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 17, at 2 p.m, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, 1035 N. Main St., Hillsville, VA. Rev. Russell Payne will officiate. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
