Obituary

Faye Marshall Mills

On a Sunday in February 1927, Martha Faye, everyone's beloved Faye, youngest daughter of Edna Lucy (Guynn) and Vasco Elmond, was born into The Marshall Family.  She was one of seven children and grew up in the Sunnyside area of Carroll County.  Her siblings Ethelene, Clyde, Roberta, Gale, J.B. and Wayne were extremely close to one another. Over the years, as they married, their spouses and time together was one of Faye's favorite things.  Sharing her home, amazing cooking and laughter and love was the heart of everything cherished by Faye.  On Sunday, December 28, 2025, Faye passed peacefully in her sleep onto her eternal life. What comfort it is knowing she has been reunited with her family and her broken heart mended from the loss of her only son, Marshall, who passed before her in 2024.  Faye's adoring husband, Arthur, a second son, Rayburn, and all special loved ones, who she watched go before her, now know that God saved the best for last as she arrived home – now together forever.

Fayebird, and all that she was, will be so missed by her blessed granddaughters, Paige (Mike) and Sally (Scott) and their children; Ramona (Roger) and Marcia (Chip)--Arthur's girls he lovingly called Mona and Mop; Donna and Dianne her "other daughters" and special mother-in-law to them, too; nieces and nephews; and great and great-great grandchildren who were fortunate to meet and know the matriarch of the Vass Mills Marshall Family.

Fancy Gap neighbors were very special to Faye and she was to them, too.  The infamous antique shop called Faye's Country Store, that she and her husband started in the 1980s, became a second home for their family and a gathering place in their community.  Strangers and customers became friends and the 33 years of memories in those four walls will forever live on because of the one and only "Mayor of Fancy Gap" – Everyone's beloved Faye.

At this time, a memorial service has not been scheduled due to illness and hospitalization within the immediate family.  However, one will be announced at a later date and time.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Mills family.
