Fay "Johnny" Hillard Bateman, 68, of Hillsville, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Bateman was born in North Carolina to the late Raymond and Dezzie Sprull Bateman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Bateman.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Bateman of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Larissa B. and Billy Higgs of Missouri; step daughter and spouse, Susan Jennings Quesenberry Reavis and Billy of Statesville, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, James H. and Frances Lee of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Julian R. and Alice Bateman of Canton, GA, and John L. Bateman of Roper, NC; sisters and brother-in-law, June C. Bateman and Mary Alice and Bob Hoggard all of Windsor, NC; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Johnny's memory to 456 West Stuart Drive, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
