Eugene Gray Shockley, 68, of Hillsville, VA passed away at his home on September 13, 2015. He will be remembered as "Gene" and was born in Carroll County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Clerin Eugene and Wilma Hicks Shockley, the brother of the late Judith Shockley Parson, and uncle of the late Tracy Lott. Eugene was a member and trustee of the Hillsville Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. He was also a current member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge No. 193 A.F. & A.M. Hillsville Chapter No. 71 and Order of the Eastern Star. He was very active in his Local Chapter, the State Chapter and the International Chapter. He had been a member of the Roanoke Scottish Rites Body, Kazim Shrine Temple and the Galax Elks Lodge No. 2212. Eugene also worked for 46 years as a banker in Carroll County. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Vickie Shockley Ross and Dale. Eugene was uncle to Patrick Ross, Katherine Ross, Susan DeVoe, Regina Smith, and Randy Jacobs. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Hillsville Christian Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Amanda Hatfield Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Dalton Hill Cemetery. Order of the Eastern Star services will be conducted by the Hillsville Chapter No. 71, Order of the Eastern Star at the church as part of the service. Masonic Rites will be presented at the graveside by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge No. 193 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends at the Hillsville Christian Church on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
