Ethel Edwards Vass, 90, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab in Galax, Virginia. Mrs. Vass was preceded in death by her parents, Brooks and Cora Lee Edwards; her husband, Montie Vass; brothers, Bernice Edwards, Billy Edwards, Clyde Edwards, and Swanson Edwards; and sister, Mayme Tomlinson. Survivors include her children and spouses, Barbara and Dale Chappell of Galax, Brenda and Richard Horton of Woodlawn, and Eddie and Joan Harmon of Hillsville; sisters, Mary Hundley of Hillsville and Alma Branscome of Utah; sisters-in-law, Sue Edwards, Belva Edwards, and Pauline Edwards; three grandchildren, Kelley Chappell, Steve Horton, and Chelsi Stoneman; four great grandchildren, Savannah Stoneman, McKensy Stoneman, Carly Dillon, and Hope Horton; and Waddell Nursing Home Family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 4:00 PM with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Worrell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
