Ethel Reece Sutphin Turman, 89, of Hillsville, passed away on January 18, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Turman was born March 2, 1922 in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Abraham Payne Reece and Lucy Ellen Largen Reece. She was preceded in death by her first husband Howard Lee Sutphin; her second husband James Lee Turman; and also her sisters Zula Mae Reece Woollums and Ivil Marie Reece Huff. She is survived by her sister Yonna I. Reece of Aylett, VA; brother-in-law Elmo Huff of Dugspur; nieces and nephews; Troy Woollums, John Woollums, Frank Woollums, David Huff, Dan Huff, Mary Beth McIntire, and Margaret Woods; and a cherished caretaker Tammy Burnette. Ethel was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Dugspur, VA for her entire adult life. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dustin Montgomery and Mr. Layne Poff officiating. Burial will follow in the Turman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
