Ethel Ella Nester, 93 of Hillsville passed away Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Nester was preceded in death by her parents Ellis & Hattie Alderman; husband Sexton R. Nester; and daughter June Turman. She is survived by her daughter Sue Vass of Mt. Airy, NC; grandchildren Ricky Vass of Pilot Mt., NC, Steve Vass of Mt. Airy, NC and Barry Turman of Roanoke, VA; and great grandchildren Carrie Vass of Pilot Mt. NC, Casey Vass of Pilot Mt. NC, Nikki Turman of Roanoke, VA, Brandon Vass of Mt. Airy, NC and Gracie Turman of Roanoke, VA. The family would like to express a special Thank You to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care of Mt. Airy, NC.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Crooked Oak Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Oscar Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooked Oak Cemetery. Mrs. Nester will lie in state from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the funeral service on Sunday and the family will receive friends at the church at this time. The family will also receive friends at daughter, Sue Vasss home at 126 Hilda Drive, Mt. Airy, NC.
