JACKSON, Ethel Marie Goad, 92, of Salem, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on December 14, 2014. Born January 9, 1922 in Hillsville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grosvenor McKinley "Mack" Goad, D.D.S. and Julia Ethel Faddis Goad and her husband of 66 years, Robert Floyd Jackson, Sr., D.D.S. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob", Jr. and Lori Bagley Jackson, of Seabrook, SC; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Susan, PhD, and Robert Mills of Salem, VA; and Margaret and Ralph "Bob" Martin of Hillsville, VA; five grandchildren and spouses, Matthew and Tracy Jackson, Virginia Beach, VA; Dana Jackson, Virginia Beach, VA; Timothy Lipton, San Francisco, CA; Robert and Amy Martin, Claudville, VA; and Marie Martin, Christiansburg, VA; four great-grandchildren, Brittany and Madelyn Martin; Cole and Riley Jackson; two step-grandchildren, Lexy and Reanna Carico. Mrs. Jackson was a 1939 graduate of Hillsville High School, Hillsville, Virginia and a 1943 graduate of Radford University with both a BS and BA degree. She married Robert "Bob" Floyd Jackson, Sr. on June 14, 1943. Mrs. Jackson was talented in ceramics, painting, knitting and sewing. She was a voracious reader. She served as den mother for both cub scouts and girl scouts. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States and Canada. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hillsville, VA. She will be greatly missed by her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Hillsville with Rev. John Duval and Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service.
