Essie Gay Shupe, 79 of Dugspur, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Shupe was preceded in death by her husband Waitman Shupe; parents Raymond Early & Ester Ann Goad; brother Manford Goad; and sister Clessie Quesenberry. She is survived by her daughter Wanda Montgomery of Hillsville; son and daughter-in-law Elden R. & Cheryl Shupe of Hillsville; four grandchildren Dustin Montgomery, Kristie McCormick, Bradley Shupe, and Alisha Glass; seven great grandchildren Trey Montgomery, Cole Montgomery, Caleb McCormick, Noah McCormick, Morgan Shupe, Logan Shupe, and Dylan Leonard; and special dog Sussie.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 7:30 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Greg McCormick officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:30 PM until service time. A graveside service with burial following will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Cox Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
