Ernest L. Thomas, 85 of Meadows of Dan, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Thomas was born April 24, 1924 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Jesse & Laura Ann Webb Thomas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Lee Thomas. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Thomas of the home; son Arlie Thomas, Meadows of Dan; daughter Debra Nester, Martinsville; brother Reford Thomas, Hillsville; Five grandchildren Ashley Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Jennifer Padgett, Stacey Gregory, Heather Edwards; eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Nathan Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellis Goad Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
