Ernest Akers, 83 of Hillsville, passed away Monday, June 26, 2006 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Mr. Akers is survived by his wife Eva Quesenberry Akers of the home; daughter & son-in-law Diane & Randall Dalton of Hillsville; son & daughter-in-law Dale & Rita Akers of Hillsville; three grandchildren & spouse Shannon Dalton, Travis & Robin Akers, and Ryan Akers; and sister Pauline Melton of Hillsville.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with the Dr. John Dunstan and Rev. Ronnie Riffle officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Plains Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday night at the funeral home.
