Emmitt Edgar Cassell, 84 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Cassell is survived by his wife Pauline Tankersley Cassell of the home; sons & daughter-in-law T.L. Cassell of Greensboro, NC and Michael Bernard & Donna Cassell of Greensboro, NC; sister Bertha Wertz of Princeton, TX; and grandchildren Jennifer Shelton, Caitlyn Cassell, Michael Ryan Cassell and Geoffrey Waynick.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bobby Webb and Rev. Norman Goad officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service time.
