Emma Jean Slusher, 86 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Grayson Nursing and Rehab. Mrs. Slusher was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Ferd and Elsie Combs Hill. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Waltrude Slusher; daughter, Donna Akers; and brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Faye Hill.

Survivors include her children, Wayne Slusher of Independence, Martha James and husband, Brad of Galax, and David Slusher and wife, Alva of Riner; brother, Larry Hill and wife, Donna; son-in-law, Jay Akers; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Jeffery Hill.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Elder Ronald Bowman and Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Lebanon Cemetery c/o Russell Branscome at 36 Quail Court Ridge. Galax, VA 24333. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
