Emma Dell Horton Layman, 58 of Austinville, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at her home. She was born in Carroll County to the late William Roscoe & Edith Lineberry Horton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a sister Melda Alexander. Mrs. Layman is survived by her husband Richard E. Layman of the home; son & daughter-in-law Kelly Ray & Bonnie Quesenberry of Pensacola, FL; daughter Christine Lea Quesenberry of Hillsville; four grandchildren Cody, Johnny, Ian and Rachel Quesenberry; brothers & sisters-in-law Lester & Mae Horton, Ranzy & Doris Horton, Cecil & Judy Horton all of the Laurel Community, Randolph & Dalia Horton of Concord, NC, and William & Mary Horton of Burton, OH; sister & brother-in-law Rela & Vance Rominger of Haw River, NC; and brother-in-law Olen Alexander of the Laurel Community.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Coulson Church of the Brethren at 3:00 PM with Pastor Russell Payne and Rev. Scott Flippin officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, beginning at 1:00 PM, lasting until service time.
