Elsie Mae
Largen
March 10, 1932 – August 2, 2021
Elsie Largen passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021. She has left this earth to join her husband, Morrison Largen, in their forever home with the Lord. Elsie was born in Carroll County on March 10,1932 to Andrew and Alice Gardner, whom she loved with all of her heart.
Elsie has left behind three children, Meade (daughter-in-law, Kathie) Coulson, Karen Coulson Monroe, and Dawn Coulson. She also left behind her grandchildren, Galen (his wife Jasmine) Coulson, and Heather Monroe, and great-granddaughters Aurora and Emma Coulson.
Growing up her children got to experience the outdoors with their mother and father. Her children have many fond memories of the family camping trips. Elsie enjoyed nature, flowers, and everything to do with the great outdoors. Elsie was very gifted in making quilts, crafts, painting, and baking which she learned from her mother. She loved watching her birds that came to the feeders to eat, and the red squirrels that came to visit her in her yard. Nature was where she got her inspiration in making her quilts. She also loved listening to Dawn's stories about the bears that came to visit. Elsie loved books and passed this love on to her children.
She leaves behind her late husband's family.
Due to the increased COVID cases, Elsie's children will hold a private memorial service at the Gladesboro Lutheran Church with Pastor Joann Bunn officiating.
Elsie's children ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the national or local Parkinson's Foundation 200 SE 1st, Ste 800, Miami, FL 33131 or her beloved Gladesboro Lutheran Church 3486 Gladesboro Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Thank you to all of her family, friends, and church family who loved our Mother in this life.
Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
