Elmo Rush Alderman, Sr. 84 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Mr. Alderman was born in Carroll County to the late Wyatt Blane & Lila Mae Alderman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Alvin Alderman and sister Willadean (Penny) Nester. He is survived by his wife Margaret M. Alderman of the home; daughters & sons-in-law Mildred & Frank Weddle of Salisbury, NC, and Cynthia Dawn & Lonnie Anders of Galax; sons & daughter-in-law Elmo Rush Alderman, Jr. of Hillsville and Robert Gail & Kathy Alderman of Hillsville; sisters Ethel Marie Alderman of Hillsville and Lillian Hawks of Fancy Gap; five grandchildren Lonnie C. Anders, Jr., Laura Anders Marie Phillips, Ginny Carey and Autumn Fuller; and five great grandchildren Kamden Phillips, Braden Anders, Matthew Grady Fuller, Daron Phillips, and Marcus Phillips.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Max Combs and Dr. Allen Cherry officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderman-Clontz Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
