Ellen Elizabeth Gardner, 88, of Fancy Gap, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Carrington Place in Wytheville. Mrs. Gardner was born in Carroll County to the late William Edgar and Margie Ellen Amburn Williams. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gardner was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Clark Gardner.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Darrell Layne of Wytheville; son and daughter-in-law, Maynard L. and Iris Gardner of Wytheville; sister, Lila Fay Talbert of Roanoke; grandchildren and spouses, Eric Gardner and Cheyenne, Heather Gardner and Andy, Dorinda Elliott and Casey, Jason Gardner, and Adam Gardner; four great granddaughters; three great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Longest officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady chapel is serving the family.
