Elden Wilson Lyons, 72, of Moravian Falls, NC, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Avante of Wilkes (Curis) Wilkesoboro, NC. Formerly of Cana, Virginia, he was born November 7, 1946 in Carroll County, VA to Ira Wilson and Nancy Caroline Edwards Lyons. He was a retired knitter of Cross Creek Apparel and former member of True Vine Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Charles Edward Lyons.

He is survived by his wife, Mona Elaine Hawks Lyons; his daughters, Angela Gardner, Sabrina (Jason) Bare, Kristina Shinault and a son, Matthew (Tabatha) Lyons. He had 12 grandchildren, Stephanie (Adrian) Gardner, Brandon Hawks, Kelsie (Reeves) Andrews, Miranda Bare, Jacob Bare, Zackery Shinault, Hadley Shinault, Bethany Brooks, Savannah Brooks, LJ Lyons, Amanda Lyons, and Amber Lyons and great-grandchildren, Jesselynn Andrews, Ryleigh Andrews, Autymn Andrews, Hailey Shinault, Chloie Gardner, Nathan Gardner and Gracie Gardner as well as a sister-in-law, Barbara Lyons, niece, Sherry Lyons and nephew, Perry Lyons.

The family would like to extend its heart felt gratitude and thanks to the staff of Avante of Wilkes, Wake Forest Wilkes Medical Center and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care and support of Elden and his family.

Flower or donations are accepted and can be made to Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at True Vine Baptist Church in Mount Airy at 3:00 PM with Rev. Ray Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
