Obituary

Elbert Marshall Largen, 94, of Laurel Fork, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Largen was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Lee and Marion Marshall Largen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Largen. Marshall was a devoted husband to Helen whom he took exceptional care of until her death. His family was of the utmost importance to him. He especially enjoyed family gatherings. He was proud of his military service, but service to the Lord was his calling. He was either Pastor, Sunday School Teacher or Song Leader at several churches. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Robert Leonard of Galax and Rebecca and Ronald C. Adams of Hillsville; sons, John Benjamin Largen of Laurel Fork and Roy Wilbur Largen of Pfafftown, NC; sisters, June Bottoms of Madison Heights, VA and Coretta Marshall of Hillsville; grandchildren, Alex Leonard, Anthony Leonard, David Adams, and Sarah Adams; step grandson, Mark Adams; great grandchildren, Robbie Leonard, Rylee Leonard, and Avery Leonard; and two step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:30 PM with Rev. Harold Fenstermaker and Rev. S.G. Bolt officiating. Burial will follow in the Largen Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:30 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Broadcasting Network, P.O. Box 7300, Charlotte, NC 28241 or the charity of your choice. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
