Effie Q. Crowder, 94 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2019. Mrs. Crowder was born in Carroll County to the late Mark Fuston and Woodsby Ella Marshall Quesenberry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Eddie Crowder.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Ann Davis of Woodlawn, Sharon and John Johnson of Brevard, NC and Donnie and Claudette Crowder of Chapel Hill, NC; brother, Vinton Quesenberry of Indian Valley; five grandchildren and spouses, Jill Sharpe, Jason and Lori Sutphin, Emily and Kyle Salter, Cameron Crowder, and Mitchell Crowder; three great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Sharpe, Colin Sharpe, and Carsyn Sharpe; and several other family members.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Hillsville at 11:00 AM with Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. Burial will follow at Monta Vista Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hillsville, 1401 N. Main Street, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
