Edward G. ( Woody ) Wardwell, 48 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009 at his home. Mr. Wardwell was preceded in death by his father Harlan Edward Wardwell. He is survived by his children Stephanie Jean Lockhoff of Hillsville, Staff Sgt. James Edward Wardwell of Cana, and John Lewis Wardwell of Hillsville; mother Guida Hillick of Carroll County; sisters Edna Ruth Marshall of Christiansburg, Barbara Jean Plott, Ashville, NC, Sue Hurst, Hillsville, Beverly Phillips, Dugspur, Michelle Edwards, Ennice, NC; seven grandchildren also survive.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 starting at Pleasant View Church at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Young officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the home of Stephanie Jean Lockhoff 3498 Lovell Road, Hillsville, VA, from 3:00 until 6:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
