Edna Rae Brooks, 58 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Lewis Gale Pulaski Hospital. Mrs. Brooks was born in West Virginia to the late Clayton and Betty Kemp Carter. Survivors include her husband, William H. Brooks of the home; son, James Christopher Dale Barker of Woodlawn; daughters and son-in-law, Melissa Dawn Brooks of Pilot Mountain, NC and Connie Renae and Tracy Evans of Ennice, NC; sisters, Eraina Jane Fine of Princeton, WV and Tammy Louise Carter of Woodlawn; grandchildren, Nathan Barker, Zoey Barker, Tanner Evans, and Mason Evans; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many special friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Brooks and Rev. R.J. Buttery officiating. Burial will follow in the Brooks Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
