Edna Alberta Bowen, 88 of Hillsville, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Mrs. Bowen is survived by sons & daughters-in-law Harold & Mae Burnette of Hillsville and Bill & Joyce Burnette of Fancy Gap; daughter Edna Lorene Newcity of Hillsville; five grandchildren Debbie Hiatt, Donna Kelly, Melissa Nester, Patricia Oaks, and Chris Burnette; and seven great grandchildren Tyler Burnette, Lauren Nester, Cade Kiger, Allison Hiatt, Jarrett Hiatt, Holly Kelly and Nicole Oaks. A special cousin Effie Shropshire, three step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:30 PM with Pastor Russell Payne and Rev. Clarence Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday night at the funeral home.
