Duel John Lawson, 85, of Austinville, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Galax Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Lawson was born in Carroll County to the late John and Mattie Sharp Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Smith Lawson.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tina Lawson of Austinville; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Dorothy Lawson of Woodlawn; grandchildren and spouses, Alana Davis of Austinville, Stephanie and Francisco Lopez of Hillsville and Kristie Davis and Ashton Bowen of Austinville; and great-grandchild, Reina Lopez.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Pleasant View Church at 12:00 PM with Pastor Ricky Alexander and Pastor Billy Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
